Anything Goes is a seductive performance that was awarded three Tony Awards in 2011. You can now catch the show in East Lansing at the Wharton Center. This is one musical worthy of a date night with someone special.
Mozart and Mendelssohn at the Grand Rapids Symphony (10/1812 to 10/19/12)
The Rising Star Series at the Grand Rapids Symphony introduces some of the most exciting up-and-comers in classic music. This performance introduces intoxicating music from Mozart and Mendelssohn from new musicians you will want to meet.
Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins (10/18/2012 to 10/20/12)
Stop in at the Frauenthal Center in Muskegon, Michigan to learn more about the life of a primary figure of the 1940s. This is a fun, entertaining show for anyone interested in the piano, singing, or music in general. Everyone loves little orphan Annie. Head to the Strand Theater in Alma to enjoy the little red-haired orphan as portrayed by the Gratiot County Players. The season extends through October 21, so grab your tickets if you want to experience this classical performance live.
In the Mood Concert in Clinton Township (10/27/12)
The Macomb Center for the Performing Arts invites you and someone special out for an enjoyable evening of romantic tunes. The music will twist and turn from jazz to swing to a variety of other styles, but every note will put you in the mood for hand-holding, snuggling, and making out on the way home. Manistee Haunted Library Tour (10/18/12)
The Manistee County Library offers a frightful adventure for children in third grade and up. The event is free for children and parents, and is open from 6-7:30 PM. Come prepared to see what goes bump in the night on the top floor of the library.
Haehnle Sanctuary (10/15/2012 - 11/15/2012)There is a beautiful staging area operated by the Haehnle Sanctuary where thousands of sandhill cranes stop during their migration. It offers a great opportunity to witness this part of their migration and take some stunning photos.
Pumpkin Patch Run Shop Hop in Berkley (10/18/12 to 10/20/12)
Register in advance for this unique tour of Michigan quilt shops. A $5 passport sets you free on an adventure that leads to quilt shops throughout the state. As you shop until you drop, make sure to present your passport to have it stamped at every quilt shop you enter. Not only will you bring home goodies for your own quality pleasure, but your completed passport will make you eligible for other prizes.
Formal Japanese Tea Ceremony in Saginaw (10/20/12)
If you are in Saginaw on October 20, make sure to stop in at the Japanese Cultural Center and Tea House around 2PM to enjoy a formal Japanese tea ceremony. This is a unique experience that is rarely enjoyed in the United States, but it is happening right here in Michigan for all to enjoy.

Angelina Ballerina: The Musical is live at the Temple Theater in Saginaw, Michigan for one day only. Load up the family to enjoy wholesome fun at a production everyone will enjoy. Doors open at 5:30, and Angelina hits the stage at 6:30.
Haunted Lighthouse Weekend at Tawas Point Lighthouse (10/19/12 to 10/20/12)
Head to East Tawas to explore the Tawas Point Lighthouse like never before. The area surrounding the lighthouse will be decorated for maximum enjoyment of the entire family. Walk through the cemetery, hop aboard the hay ride, and try your arm at a variety of carnival games. This is a famly-friendly season event in a unique location.
Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village, Dearborn (10/12/12 to 10/28/12)
The Henry Ford Museum features this spooky event suitable for the entire family. Grab the hand of someone safe and follow a trail lit by jack-o-lanterns to uncover one scary sight after the other. You never know who you will meet, but the headless horseman may be waiting for you, among others.
New Salem Corn Maze in Dorr (9/28/12 to 10/31/12)
Can you find your way through the corn maze? Or will you get spooked before you find the exit? The Allegan County Tourist Council has put together a frightful good time for every member of the family. This event can give you the chills or just give you a nice way to spend time with the family. Bring everyone out and there will be something for every age group.
October Fairs & Festivals in Michigan
Pumpkin Festival in Downtown Midland (10/18/12)
The streets of Midland will be packed with werewolves, witches, and cute little goblins from 6-7:30PM on October 18. Bring the kids to collect candy while enjoy free cotton candy and popcorn. Bring the adults for pumpkin rolling, bowling, and other unique Halloween festivities.
Riverwalk Place in Gladwin comes alive in October. Come out and hear the roar of Jeep engines in the air. Enjoy fresh beer brewed in Michigan while enjoying the live entertainment. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Tribute Band will be on hand to keep you grooving well into the night.

Fall Into the Arts in Battle Creek (10/19/12)
If you are in the Battle Creek area, head downtown on October 19th to enjoy a bit of shopping. Not only will you have the usual shops to browse, but you will be presented with an array of artwork created by local residents. You may find a few Christmas presents in the mix, or just spend some downtime with the family or someone special.
War of 1812 Exhibit at the Frankenmuth Historical Museum (9/20/12 to 12/31/12)
Learn about the War of 1812 with this dynamic exhibit. Video is included in the presentation.
Cruisin’ the Fossil Freeway at the Michigan State University Museum (10/6/12 to 12/30/12)
This is a fun exhibit to enjoy with the whole family. Real fossils and colorful, fun artwork come together to create an exhibit that is both educational and energetic. The displays are bright and entertaining, so even younger children may appreciate the art.
