Whether you are looking for a top family vacation spot or romantic getaway for two, a Mackinac Island vacation is a great travel choice!
Our visitors LOVE Mackinac Island. They voted it the most romantic destination, best state park, best place for boating, and several other categories for the 2012 Best of Michigan Awards.
Our family loves to bring our own bikes to ride throughout the streets, and along the highway that circles the island. If you don't have a bike along, you can rent one as soon as you get off the ferry.
Mackinac Island is also the only natural theme park in America. With no motor vehicles allowed -- you can travel by horse and buggy, bicycle or foot!
Did you know that Mackinaw’s M-185 is the only highway in the United States that does not allow motorized vehicles? It runs along the island's shoreline (approximately 8 miles) and has spectacular scenic views of the Straits of Mackinac.
For couples, Mackinac offers a great chance for a romantic getaway together. There are wonderful places to stay and things to do for just the two of you.
We went there on our honeymoon and loved the fact that we could relax and enjoy a step back time. In 2012, the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island was voted most romantic honeymoon destination. We can certainly understand why.
No more wedding rushing around and schedules to keep...just some nice relaxing adventures together.
For our family, it is a family adventure vacation favorite. We think it may have a lot to do with all the Mackinaw Island fudge we let the kids eat, but they insist that they also like the horses, the exploring and the butterfly exhibit almost as much as the world-famous fudge. (Should we believe them?)
So whether you are looking for a romantic Mackinaw sunset for two or a top family vacation spot that your kids will never forget, you won’t be disappointed with Mackinac Island.
