Duck Lake State Park

Duck Lake State Park

This beach is the best for families with young children because of there is beautiful Lake Michigan Beach, as well as a large sandy beach on the shallow inlet to Duck Lake.

This allows for the fun and scenery of being on the "Big Lake", as well as wonderful safe beach and water play for toddlers. The water carves an every changing path from Duck Lake to Lake Michigan.

This area is often quite wide, 20 to 30 feet, and 1 to 3 feet deep. This water is often several degrees warmer than that of L. Michigan, making for very pleasant swimming. Duck Lake is a State Park which means very reasonable entrance fees, public restrooms, and ample parking. The parking lot for the beach is just a short walk from the beach, but is not visible from the beach.

From the Lake Michigan beach area you can look north to see the White Lake Lighthouse and Pier. This makes a pleasant walk, as well.

The White Lake Lighthouse is very picturesque. There is a channel into White Lake for boating. After a day at the beach, you can drive into Whitehall for some great beach food or ice cream.
